Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning Framingham State University Code of Conduct for Virtual Programs
In order to maintain a safe, respectful virtual learning environment, participants in Virtual Programs presented by the Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct, Acceptable Use Policy, and other policies of their home institution, and also to uphold the following Code of Conduct established by the McAuliffe Center:
Participants must follow any verbal or written directions related to the program activity given by the McAuliffe Center staff (facilitator) during the course of their participation.
Participants must clearly identify themselves (through a visible “screen name” on any and all online communication systems) using the same name that appears on the roster and/or registration form submitted at the time of registration. Name must appear as [First Name] [Last Initial]. Preferred names are ok as long as they match the roster and/or registration form.
Language, images, gestures or other communications that are obscene, profane, threatening, disrespectful or discriminatory will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, anything written, posted, spoken aloud or displayed through chat, audio, video or any other means of communication. Expression and language should be appropriate for and non-disruptive to the educational environment.
Recording or screen capture of any part of a Virtual Program is prohibited.
When on video, participants should be fully dressed, and in compliance with the Dress Code of the participant’s school or institution.
When on video and/or audio, participants should make their best efforts to reduce distractions in their environment that are visible and/or audible to other participants.
Conduct or use of any element of the virtual learning platform that presents a significant distraction to other participants or facilitators may result in participant being muted or even removed from virtual program.
If participant’s audio or video has been muted or turned off by a facilitator, the participant must not attempt to unmute themselves until directed to do so by the facilitator.
Participants may not use communication channels or other interactive tools, including but not limited to text chat features, for any purpose other than as directed by the facilitator.
Participants understand that failure to adhere to the preceding Code of Conduct, and/or failure to comply with facilitator directions, may result in the revoking of privileges up to and including immediate removal from the virtual program with no refund.
