About Oasis in Space

Water: our most precious resource. Without it, life could not exist on our planet. Is the reverse also true? If we search for water, will we also find life?

Join us as we explore our solar system and discover what makes our world stand out among the Sun’s family of planets. Stunning imagery will captivate you as we journey to, and sometimes even below, the surfaces of our neighbor worlds to discover whether or not life might be possible beyond our home planet!

Runtime: 24 minutes
Film showings at 11:30am and 1:00pm

About the McAuliffe Center

Established in 1994 to honor the legacy of educator, NASA Teacher in Space, and Framingham State University alumna Christa McAuliffe, the McAuliffe Center serves as a hub for STEM education activity and outreach. The Center primarily consists of the Challenger Learning Center facility and Framingham State University Planetarium.

In the Challenger Learning Center, participants engage in space mission simulation programs by assuming the roles of astronauts and mission controllers. While applying problem solving, decision making, communication, and other essential skills, crew members pursue common goals linked together through one of three mission scenarios.

The Center manages the university’s digital planetarium, a 30’ domed theater that provides multidisciplinary programming to a range of audiences, including university classes. Programs may include a full-dome film, earth science data models, a live night sky presentation, special guest speakers, Q&A sessions, or kinesthetic learning activities.
