BEST AQI provides young people across the US with unique access to the instruments, data, and analysis tools that empower them to not only pursue personally relevant air quality investigations, but to advocate for cleaner air in their communities.

Youth Participants in BEST AQI:

• Investigate Air Quality - Conduct hands-on investigations using real-world datasets, including satellite data explored through TEMPO Lab.

• Analyze Local Impacts - Explore how air quality affects their communities and daily lives.

• Communicate & Take Action - Share findings and take action to promote healthier environments.

*All student projects are youth-driven and culminate in meaningful community engagement.

Explore real data with TEMPO LAB 

Participants use the interactive data tool to explore hourly air pollution data from the Smithsonian & NASA’s TEMPO Mission. Students can investigate air quality, analyze pollutants like NO₂ and ozone, and explore local patterns across their community using authentic scientific data.
