EARTH AND SPACE EXPLORATIONS
Explore our Solar System. Map out Earth’s interconnected systems. Investigate the nature of light and tools used by astronomers to study our universe. No question is too big or too small for our Earth and Space Explorations!
Earth and Space Explorations are live, online guided explorations led by our experienced educators. Programs may include live guided tours of space, original video content, interactive features, and more!
Participants can expect to actively engage and communicate throughout each program through a variety of means, including video and voice, whenever possible. Programs are conducted through Zoom, but other arrangements can be made based on your groups’ needs. See individual program descriptions below for more information.
Solar System Explorers
All Ages
A live, interactive journey through our Solar System.
Robotic space exploration missions like the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover take months, or even years, to reach their destination. With us, you can visit not just one, but many Solar System destinations in less than an hour. Using the same professional software that powers the Framingham State University Planetarium, one of our experienced educators will be your guide as you start at Earth, then head off towards the planet, moon, asteroid or comet of your choice! Participants can choose their own adventure through polls, interactive chat and more, and can join in guided discussions with educators and fellow participants.
Requirements: internet-connected device (computer, Chromebook, tablet, or smartphone). Programs are presented through Zoom, but participants do not need a Zoom account.
Duration: minimum 30 minutes - maximum 60 minutes
Participants: suggested maximum of 30
+ Standards
This program supports the following Next Generation Science Standards:
2-PS1-1 Plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of materials by their observable properties.
2-ESS2-3 Obtain information to identify where water is found on Earth and that it can be solid or liquid.
4-ESS2-2 Analyze and interpret data from maps to describe patterns of Earth’s features.
5-ESS2-1 Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact.
5-PS1-3 Make observations and measurements to identify materials based on their properties.
